Police Investigating Attempted North Side Robbery

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a Rite Aid on Pittsburgh's North Side Sunday morning.

According to police, the incident happened at the store in the 600-block of East Ohio Street around 10:40 a.m.

A man entered the store and an employee observed him behind the counter trying to open a cash register. The suspect then ordered the employee to open the register, but fled on foot when he noticed the manager calling 911.

The store manager followed the suspect for a short distance as he fled toward Avery Street.

The suspect has been described as being an African-American man standing about 6-feet tall and weighing 275 to 300 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black and grey jacket with "CE" on the left chest. He also had black pants, black mask and was wearing black and grey Jordan sneakers.
