Man Confesses To Double Shooting In Washington Co.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police have arrested a man in conjunction with a double shooting in Washington County Tuesday night.

Overnight, police arrested 18-year-old Brandon Wolowski, for allegedly shooting two people, killing one.

Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to a shooting in the 900-block of Fayette Street in the City of Washington.

At the house, police found 37-year-old Matthew Mathias dead.

A woman had also been shot in the arm and cheek, but was able to run to a neighbor's house and call 911.

"I heard some pops," neighbor Bo Fleming said. "I had headphones on in my truck and I thought the front end of my truck was acting up. I pulled into the driveway and opened the door and a woman came up beside my truck and said she'd been shot."

Washington police say she is expected to survive.

"She was in a lot of pain," Fleming said.

Police say they found Wolowski a block away from the scene at a friend's house and that he confessed to the crime.

"Our patrol guys got some leads right at the beginning and were able to track down the suspect and we had him in here a short time later," Washington Police Lt. Daniel Stanek said.

Wolowski said he went to the house with the intent of brandishing his weapon and robbing the victims of guns and other weapons he believed were in the house, but when the male victim tried to run, Wolowski started shooting, according to police.

Police say they think Wolowki knew the victims, who likely let him in.

Wolowski is being charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and robbery.
