Erskine Bowles Talks Fiscal Cliff, Economy

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) - Despite the last-minute deal on the Fiscal Cliff, our nation's economic problem is not over.

The Cliff was averted, but the problems that led to it are still looming.

One of the men behind the hopeful solution is Erskine Bowles, former White House Chief of Staff to President Clinton, who is also the co-chair of the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform, a commission created by President Obama to solve the Fiscal Cliff crisis.

He has a lot to say about the future of America's economy, and he's going to bring his message to Pittsburgh next week as part of the Robert Morris University Pittsburgh Speakers Series.

KDKA-AM's Larry Richert talks to Bowles about the Fiscal Cliff and what solutions there might be for it. He thinks Congress had a real chance for reform, but blew it.

"We missed the golden opportunity to do something big and reasonable about reducing the deficit and putting our fiscal house in order," he said.

Listen for more with Erskine Bowles and see him live on January 23, 2013 at Heinz Hall.
