Pens' Winger Matt Cooke Embracing New Role Coming Off Career High In Goals

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- Joe Starkey of Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN caught up with Pens winger Matt Cooke to talk about his expectations coming off a career high in goals last year, and what it was like making the transformation from enforcer to legitimate offensive threat.

Cooke talked about players taking runs at him in the past given his behavior, and how the changes he made on the ice with his playing style and persona have carried over to his every day life.

Cooke also discussed the possibility of being a candidate to play on the second line alongside Evgeni Malkin and James Neal saying, "I'm committed to helping my team win in whichever fashion that is," and cited the six games last year in which he played on Sidney Crosby's line as a reference point to prove that he can play with guys that skilled.
