Thieves Nab Money From Fayette Co. Hotel, Fire Department

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating a robbery at a popular Fayette County hotel.

It happened around 2 a.m. at the Uniontown Holiday Inn.

The suspect entered with a gun and demanded cash from the front desk worker.

"He showed the gun to her, no injuries or anything like that, but showed the handgun and basically said, 'give me money,'" State Police Tpr. Stefanie Plume said.

He was wearing all black at the time, including a ski mask and gloves.

He got away on foot with less than $300.

State police searched a nearby wooded area and also local businesses but the suspect was nowhere to be found.

There is no surveillance footage and no known witnesses.

State police are also investigating the theft of thousands of dollars from a volunteer fire department in Fayette County.

It happened over the weekend at the Normalville Volunteer Fire Department.

The thieves broke in, then used the department's own tools to get into a safe and steal money.

The money was from fundraisers conducted throughout the year that fund the department's activities.

State police collected fingerprints, which they're hoping will produce leads.

Anyone with information about either robbery is asked to contact State Police in Uniontown.
