Crews Work To Repair Wilkinsburg Water Main Break

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) – Crews are working to repair a water main that ruptured early Wednesday morning in Wilkinsburg.

According to officials at the scene, the break happened around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Penn Avenue and Montier Street.

It is not known how big the line is that broke, but it is believed to have been caused by the cold temperatures.

Wilkinsburg Penn Join Water Authority crews are working to repair the break, but it is not known how long it will take.

However, traffic was moving normally through the area as of 7 a.m.

Due to the break and the cold, ice formed on Penn Avenue. As a result, road crews have been out spreading a salt and calcium chloride mixture to break it up.
