PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) — Penguins VP of Communications Tom McMillan joined The Fan Morning Show today to preview some of the special treats fans can expect with the team’s first home game of this shortened season tonight.

The Penguins have asked fans to be in their seats by 6:50 p.m. tonight for a special presentation, and while McMillian wouldn’t give away all the details of it, he joked that a “silver lining” of the work stoppage is that the organization has had plenty of time to prepare for the opener.

McMillian noted that everyone involved with the team is stoked for things to get going.

“We’ve been waiting for a long time,” McMillan said. “We’re off-the-charts excited.”

He said that the organization’s ownership and management felt thanking the fans with added deals was essential.

“It comes from the top… we realize how lucky we are to have this kind of fan base,” McMillan said. “We just thought it was the right thing to do to reach out.”
