1 Dead, 1 In Custody After Trailer Park Stabbing

NORTH UNION TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One man is in police custody and a woman is dead  following a bloody assault Monday afternoon.

Police say a stabbing between 56-year-old Henry Clay Crawford and his girlfriend, 49-year-old Lisa Faye Tupta, happened in the afternoon at the Holiday trailer park on Easter Drive in North Union Township.

Neighbor Gloria Calabro said she was getting into her car, when she heard someone banging on the door of the trailer across the street.

"I went to get in my car to go back to work and I heard him beating on her window, on her door saying, 'let me in, let me in, let me in,'" Calabro said.

Worried, Calabro called her neighbor, Tupta, who reportedly said "when he gets like this, I don't let him in."

Another neighbor called 911 when he heard the door and glass shattering.

Neighbor Robert Conklin said there was blood surrounding the trailer and all over. He said Crawford was covered in blood and left blood all over the police car as he was taken into custody.

State Police say when they got to the trailer, Crawford was found hiding in a rear closet.

"It must have been pretty gruesome, because there was blood all over the cruiser when they put him in there ... and I guess he got stabbed too," Conklin said.

Police say Tupta suffered severe stab wounds in the neck and stomach.

Tupta taken to the hospital, but subsequently died.

Crawford is in police custody, no word on any charges yet.
