McKees Rocks Activist Found Dead

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a well-known McKees Rocks man was found dead.

The victim is 61-year-old Isaiah Dent, who friends say had no enemies.

Dent was a community activist, who was very involved with the art and fashion community in Pittsburgh.

Police say dent was likely beaten to death and are going door-to-door in hopes of finding information.

"He was passionate about making change in McKees Rocks," Dent's friend and Pastor James Hogan said.

Dent was found in his Hays Manor apartment severely beaten.

Police can not pinpoint a motive or any suspects at this time, to the frustration of the McKees Rocks Police Chief.

"A good man to deal with," Police Chief Robert Cifrulak said. "This is a shock. I'm offended personally to see something like this happen."

Just a week ago, Dent helped organize an event for children in the area, which was attended by fellow fashion designer and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's wife, Kiya.

"He gave Mrs. Tomlin a gift and it was a bunch of material, because he was a designer and it all had this Steelers logo on it," Hogan said. "And we were joking with him that it wasn't licensed, but he was a wonderful guy."

Hogan says Dent died in the place he fought to make safer.

"One of the things he was most proud of was saying, 'at Hays Manor, we haven't had anyone get killed down there in a long time' and for him to be the next person who ends up being killed, that's just heart breaking," Hogan said.

Dent's death marks the first McKees Rocks murder in a year.

Police are continuing to investigate.
