Deliberations Enter Third Day In Prison Guard Abuse Trial

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- Jury deliberations continue in the trial of a former state prison guard who is accused in the alleged assault of inmates.

The deliberations have now entered into a third day.

Harry Nicoletti, 61, is facing 80 counts of inmate abuse.

He faces decades in prison if convicted only of a fraction of those crimes.

The jury on Tuesday morning asked to hear instructions on count 60, which is a charge of aggravated assault against a prisoner.

Later in the afternoon, the jury asked to hear testimony of a witness read back to them.

The alleged victims say Nicoletti targeted them because of their crimes and sexual orientation.

But he maintains the charges are "made up."
