Pitt Asst. Coach Talks Jamie Dixon's Coaching Style, Working With Freshman

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt Hoops Coach Pat Sandle joined Starkey and Miller on Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN to talk about the teams recent hot streak that has propelled them back into the top 25.

Sandle talked with us about the win over Syracuse and said it was a big win because they beat a highly-rated team, and defended their home court.

"The biggest thing I think for us was to protect our home court, we had already dropped a couple, and in order to see yourself at the top of the conference...losing two home games is tough enough, I don't think you can drop anymore at home," he said.

One thing that leaves fans scratching their heads during the game is when Pitt scores, and head coach Jamie Dixon immediately calls a timeout.  Sandle gave us a look inside the reasoning behind this, and how Dixon is always in control of every situation his team gets themselves into.

We also asked Sandle about the teams poor free throw shooting this year, and hear his thoughts on Joe Starkey's suggestion that the team consider shooting "granny-style."

We wrapped things up with Sandle talking about Jamie Dixon's penchant for getting a little overly excited and walking onto the court looking like a part of the teams defense.
