Police Seek Suspect In Armed Robbery At Mt. Pleasant Gas Station

MOUNT PLEASANT (KDKA) -- Police in Mount Pleasant are looking for a man who robbed the Sunoco gas station on Main Street.

The armed robbery happened Friday night right before midnight.

Surveillance video shows the man enter the business with his face and hands covered and pointing a gun at the store clerk.

"He was very cool and collective," Officer Justin James, of the Mount Pleasant Police Department, said. "I mean, to do something like that is obviously… you've got to be prepared to know what you're going to do when you go into it, I guess. And, it looked like he was."

Police say he demanded money and a pack of Newport cigarettes.

After stealing $203, authorities say he got into a white minivan or SUV with a woman driver.

The two headed east on Main Street.

The store clerk was left rattled by the incident.

"Everybody's friendly and it's a nice community; we never expected it," said Bob Carnes, the owner of the Sunoco. "That's why we never worried about her working at night alone like that."

She was still too shaken to come back to her shift Saturday night, but says she will return to work.

Meanwhile, police say they plan to look at footage from video cameras along Main Street to zero in on the suspect and his getaway driver.
