PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – After an injury riddled 2012 season that saw the usually reliable Jeff Karstens in an on-again, off-again role because of health issues, it was expected he would no longer be with the team at season’s end.

Those suspecions seemed to be confirmed this offseason when the organization did not tender Karstens a deal.
