Jamie Dixon Responds To Woodall's Claim Of Team Freelancing Against USF

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt point guard Travon Woodall claimed after the team's 64-44 victory over USF that Head Coach Jamie Dixon allowed his guys to "go on out there and play" instead of running their sets, and that's what spurred them to a 16-0 run that put them ahead for good in the second half.

Dixon joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller to clarify that statement and what exactly it was that he let his team do.

"We were running the same stuff we did," he said. "We ran our transition game is what we did, and our transition game turns into our motion, and our motion turns into our ball screen play at the end so it's really what we've done all year long.  But we ran it consistently for a stretch."

Senior center Dante Taylor finished last night's game with his third career triple double, and Dixon said that he is "playing his best basketball the last couple games of conference play."

Dixon also touched on possibly trimming down his ten man rotation as we get closer to the Big East and NCAA Tournament, the technical he got in last night's game and just how wide open this year's March Madness field will be.
