PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — There’s something very strange and spooky going on in the basement of a popular nightclub in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.

In fact, some experts say they’ve never seen anything like it.

Terror Town first opened in 2011. It was supposed to be a Halloween treat. A haunted haven located underneath Club Zoo and Static.

But even before the bloodied doors opened, there were some eerie signs.

“We had some odd things happen,” Sam Firman, the club’s owner, said. “I started thinking, we may be building a haunted house in a building that’s already haunted.”

So Firman did what anyone would do, called in the experts. In this case, it was the Pennsylvania Department of Paranormal Investigations.

After months of research, the investigators claim that there’s more than just a Halloween attraction in the basement.

“Spirits, ghosts, entities, apparitions, voices – this building has everything and it’s authentic,” paranormal investigator Barbara King said. “I’ve never seen a building like this.”

But how do you substantiate such a claim?

Well, first there are the voices, like the ones recorded during hours spent in Terror Town after dark. They captured an unidentified laugh when no one else was in the building and the name, “Gifford.”

“If you talk like you’re talking to a normal person, they respond better,” said paranormal investigator Joyelle King.

And then there are pictures.

As a part of the research, the team snaps photos every time they go down.

Then, they evaluate them – often catching images or orbs – which they describe as spirits – round, defined circles that show up in photographs, but not to the naked eye.

“We caught a face that we can’t explain, and we’re still working on that,” said Barbara.

KDKA Radio’s Mike Pintek interviews the Barbara King & her daughters:

King and her daughters believe the paranormal activity at Terror Town is picking up.

Legend has it that a young boy once died in the building, which is why it seems the voice heard is that of a young child. She also believes that there is more activity to come for one simple reason.

“The most authentic building I have ever seen,” Barbara added.
