Medical Frontiers: March 4, 2013

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -- On this edition of Medical Frontiers Dr. Pifer is joined by Dr. Fredric Price, an expert in gynecologic oncology. 

The doctors are on the subject of women's health and discuss Human Papillomavirus, Cervical cancer and Ovarian cancer. HPV can cause cervical cancer, but is preventable through vaccines.

Price shares his optimism in the improvements made in the field of gynecologic oncology, new technologies and research has allowed advancements in the field. 

A specific advancement Price discusses is the Da Vinci Robot, which is a surgical robot that minimizes the invasive effects of surgery. 

The Da Vinci Robot is often in used for cervical cancer, uterine cancer and uterine fibroids procedures. 

Price also says he is optimistic about new clinical trials and research capabilities that will continue to progress in the future.
