Local Musician Charged In Domestic Incident

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - People know him for his music, but Herman Granati Jr. - one of the Granati brothers - was arrested over the weekend.

According to police, he allegedly roughed up a former girlfriend and left her with marks and lacerations.

The incident started when police were called to a home on Wyngate Road in Moon Township Sunday morning for a reported domestic disturbance.

When officers arrived, they said there was enough evidence to take the accomplished musician into custody.

According to the criminal complaint, officers found Granati intoxicated and was rambling in circles while his former girlfriend was visibly shaken.

"They got into an argument, which escalated. He allegedly grabbed her firmly around the wrists and slammed her into the wall and shouted into her face," Moon Township Police Chief Leo McCarthy said.

Police said the woman had suffered some pretty obvious injuries.

"Allegedly threw her to the floor, then after she got up, he choked her around the neck. The officer saw deep red marks around her wrists, around her neck," Chief McCarthy said.

Officers said Granati was cooperative when they took him into custody.

Granati is being charged with one count of simple assault and he is currently out on bond.
