Pirates' Catcher Tony Sanchez Dishes On Gerrit Cole, Jameson Taillon

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates hopes for the future lie heavily on the arms of Gerrit Cole and Jameson Taillon, and catcher Tony Sanchez has caught both of them and knows what they're capable of.

Sanchez joined Starkey, Miller and Mueller on The FAN to talk about which Pirates prospect has the best "stuff," and what the team is looking to see him improve upon.

When it comes to the differences between Cole and Taillon, Sanchez said every pitcher is different but he gives the nudge to Cole.

"As far as natural stuff goes, I'm going to have to give it to Gerrit," he said.  "It's like he's throwing a bowling ball out there and it's tough to hit.  His fastball gets up into the triple digits, he locates it well.  He's got a great slider and a great changeup.  But that fastball, it's literally like he's throwing a 12-pound bowling ball and it's tough to barrel."

When it comes to his own game, Sanchez told us his plan for spring training is to make a good impression on management and show them what's he's capable of.

We also hear from Sanchez about his Twitter game and the self-imposed "two strikes" he's operating under.
