TSN's Darren Dreger: Letang 'Borderline Impossible To Replace'

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to explore some of the options the Penguins might have at the upcoming trade deadline.

Dreger says he has faith that Ray Shero can make strong moves at the deadline. He expects that the Pens will probably look at a rental player, as Shero is mindful of the challenge of re-signing Kris Letang and Evgeni Malkin that looms large.

As for Letang, Dreger thinks he is quite under-appreciated, and sees him as being "borderline impossible to replace," on the level of Erik Karlsson and better than Drew Doughty.

Dreger thinks the Penguins acquiring Jerome Iginla is a real possibility, but doesn't think such a decision would be make until the last minute.

He also doesn't think there's any truth to the rumor that Simon Despres would be available in a deal for Jack Johnson.
