Man Arrested For Allegedly Fatally Stabbing Sister In Sheraden

SHERADEN (KDKA) – A Pittsburgh man, who police say had just gotten out of jail, is now back behind bars following the deadly stabbing of his sister late Tuesday night at their Sheraden home.

According to police, the stabbing happened in a home in the 3600-block of Allendale Circle around 10:15 p.m.

Police swarmed the South Side Wednesday morning searching for homicide suspect Chris Hoffman after receiving a 911 call that a man had been seen in the area, covered in dried blood.

Chris Hoffman has been charged with one count of criminal homicide. He is now being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

According to investigators, the 34-year-old Hoffman stabbed his sister, 31-year-old Lora Hoffman, to death last night at the family's Sheraden home.

Police said the brutal attack started when the siblings began arguing over lying on the couch while watching television. With their grandmother and aunt in the same room, police said Chris Hoffman walked in the kitchen, grabbed an eight-inch knife and began stabbing Lora in the head.

Authorities found her lying on the kitchen floor. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to the head, face and neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The aunt, who witnessed the attack, would not talk on camera but said Hoffman has a short temper and had just gotten out of prison.

Chris Hoffman was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. Police found him on the railroad tracks near the Duquesne Incline. He was questioned at police headquarters before being taken to jail.

According to police, Chris Hoffman had just gotten out of prison last Friday after serving a sentence in connection with an August 2006 bank robbery at the Fifth Third Bank on Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill.

During that incident, police say some people outside of the bank tackled Hoffman, who was dressed as a woman, and held him on the ground until police arrived. He is currently on federal probation.
