PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield tweeted a photo of Pittsburgh from space Saturday morning, sharing a spectacular view of the city.

The Point downtown is prominent in the photo as the brightest point in the glowing city.

His tweet read, “Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with the lights of the city piercing through the clouds.”

According to the Canadian Space Agency’s website, Hadfield has been aboard the International Space Station since December and took over as commander this month.

Hadfield has gathered a large following – with more than 500,000 followers – while sharing his experiences in space in real time.

He is expected to return to Earth in May.
