Weekend Projects Expected To Slow Down Traffic

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Squirrel Hill Tunnel may not be closing this weekend, but PennDOT will still be working on some projects, affecting traffic.

Part of Allegheny River Boulevard through the Borough of Verona will be closed Sunday between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. – if weather permits. The road will be closed so that crews can remove trees along the road between Center and South avenues.

Officials suggest using East Railroad Avenue as a detour.

Also on Sunday, motorists on Interstate 79 driving through Franklin Park Borough could find themselves stopped in either direction.

Crews will likely be stopping cars for up to 15 minutes for about an hour between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. near the Route 910/ Wexford interchange. Work is expected to be completed by 11 a.m., but drivers should allow for slow traffic conditions.

This project could also change pending weather.
