West Sunbury Man Arrested In Richland Twp. Luring Attempt

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Northern Regional Police say surveillance video helped them make an arrested in an alleged attempted luring in Richland Township.

Investigators say they have the suspect on surveillance video; and now, that man is in jail facing charges.

Police are also crediting the teenager for doing the right thing.

Police say they have taken 24-year-old Mitchell Gregory Klein of West Sunbury into custody.

"At this point in time, he is admitting talking to the girl. He was being a nice guy and just trying to give her a ride home because it was cold out," said Chief Robert Amann, of Northern Regional Police.

But there's really more to the story than that.

Police say Klein approached a 17-year-old girl at Grandview and Oakhill Drives on Monday after she got off the school bus. He was driving a dark colored car. He asked her if she wanted a ride. She declined.

"At this time, he asked her three times after the first time," said Chief Amann. "She said no, and he continued to pursue, attempting to have her get in the car to take that ride."

Because police had a solid description of the suspect, they were able to use surveillance video from a nearby Get Go to lead them straight to Klein.

He was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempting to lure a child into a motor vehicle.
