Man Wanted In Fatal McKeesport Bar Shooting Arrested

McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- A man on the run since being named a suspect in a fatal bar shooting in McKeesport was apprehended Thursday, and is now behind bars.

Police have known ever since January they were looking for 32-year-old Mark Leonard in the shooting of Jayemond Bailey inside a crowded McKeesport bar. U.S. Marshals say they found him Thursday.

"I understand from the people involved with the arrest that he was trying to hide from them inside the house, and may have concealed himself in the duct work," Lt. Andrew Schurman, of Allegheny County Police.

Police say the shooting happened inside the Street Stars Bar with 20 people inside, but not everyone was aware of what led to the shooting.

"The events seemed to have unfolded in the bathroom section of the bar," said Lt. Schurman. "So, a lot of people were shielded from seeing what actually happened, but we do believe there was some type of confrontation and an argument in the bathroom that led to the shooting."

Bailey had been shot 12 times.

Leonard was turned over to Allegheny County Police, and then taken to the Allegheny County Jail. Police aren't sure exactly where he's been since he's been on the run.

"I don't know where he has been hiding since then, but I don't have any reason to believe he's been in another state," Lt. Schurman added.
