Apartments, Business Damaged In McCandless Fire
MCCANDLESS (KDKA) - A business with two apartments above it caught fire Tuesday morning in McCandless.
According to officials at the scene, the fire started at a window and kitchen store on Duncan Avenue around 8 a.m.
Fire crews said the flames started near a fireplace, which caused a lot of smoke.
"As we were responding, actually we crested hill and saw haze of smoke coming across the road. As we pulled up, there was heavy smoke showing on three sides of the structure," Paul Wain said.
No one was home in either apartment and no one was inside the business.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
