Local Shoe Company Has Ties To Runners In Boston Marathon

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A Bethel Park specialty running store makes running gear for those running in today's Boston Marathon from Pittsburgh.

Fleet Feet Owner Bob Shooer knew some of the runners, and even had an employee in the race.

Shooer said, "I'm happy to say that all of them that I know of are accounted for, and safe."

After today's bombs went off, he immediately got on the phone to make sure everyone he knew was safe.

"It is so sad to me. I was talking to some of my employees. The marathon is a family event. To have this kind of horror occur at this type of event is unspeakable to me." Shooer told KDKA-TV's John Shumway.

Shooer says only one of the runners had plans to come home today, but all of them will be spending the night in Boston and don't have plans to come home until Tuesday at the earliest.
