New North Park Zip Line Will Have You Going Ape

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) -  How would you like to see North Park from 40 feet in the air while being suspended in nothing but a harness? If this sounds like fun to you, then you'll want to get to North Park starting Saturday, April 20, when the new Go Ape! Treetop Adventure zip line opens.

"It's something very different from a typical zip line or two zip line experience," Dan D'Augistion, owner of Go Ape! Treetop Adventures said. "It's a series of obstacles, crossings, bridges, and lots of different adventures."

KDKA-AM's Larry and John talk to D'Augistion about what people can expect when they use the new zip line adventure. He said the course was developed for all kinds of people, not just the physically fit.

"If you can get up a rope ladder, you should be okay," D'Augistino said. "While there are more challenging obstacles, there are also opt out routes. We've had everything from a 90-year-old grandmother go through one of our courses before, so it really is an adventure for the whole family."

After a 30-minute safety course, you'll get harnessed up for 2 to 3 hours of fun and exercise while navigating over 37 obstacles. The course spans seven acres and features five zip lines, two Tarzan swings, and a series of ropes, ladders, bridges, swings and trapezes. There's even a zombie themed zip line.

Prices for kids between 10-18 are $35 , and adults are $55. The price includes your harness and 2 to 3 hours of adventure.
