Garbage Truck Crash Causes Traffic Jam On Route 28

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A three-vehicle accident involving a garbage truck caused significant delays during this morning's rush hour along Route 28 near Fox Chapel.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. on the southbound side of the road.

The road reopened around 10 a.m.

The view from NewsChopper 2 this morning showed crews working at the scene of the crash, as well as severe damage to a pickup truck.

According to state police, serious delays were reported in the area as traffic backed up near Exit 11 in Harmarville.

Drivers who travel in that area are were urged to find an alternate route.

There's no word on injuries or what caused the accident.

State police continue to investigate.
