3-Alarm Homewood Fire Ruled Arson

HOMEWOOD (KDKA)- An overnight fire in Homewood went to three alarms.

The fire started around midnight at a vacant storefront in the 7000 block of Frankstown Road.

Assistant Fire Chief Thomas Cook told us the fire started in the rear of the building and spread to a garage that extends down the alley.

"Significant fire load, it basically looks like hoarding conditions, so we kept all firefighters out and attacked from the outside," said Cook.

The piles of garbage inside the building kept crews on scene for hours, dousing the trash to make sure nothing flared up.

Investigators are looking into the fire, and say they think it may have been arson.

No one was hurt.
