Burt Named New Duquesne Women's Basketball Head Coach

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Duquesne University has named a new head women's basketball coach.

Saturday the school announced that assistant coach, 42-year-old Dan Burt, will take over for former head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio who recently left to take over as the head women's basketball coach at Pitt.

Burt has worked as the team's assistant coach for the past six years.

"Dan Burt is the perfect choice to lead our women's basketball program. He has demonstrated a strong commitment to our university and our student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Greg Amodio in a statement. "I expect the program to grow under his leadership and compete for the Atlantic 10 Conference championship annually. The addition of Dan ensures that everything is in place for the continued success of Duquesne women's basketball."

Burt will be the 10th women's basketball head coach in the 40-year history of the team.

He will be formally introduced Monday.
