Pens Fans Show Support Downtown

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A rally was held downtown as the Pittsburgh Penguins get ready to take on the New York Islanders in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The "Annihilate the Islanders" rally was held in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse at noon.

Fans are excited to start the playoffs even with the news that Sidney Crosby will not play in Game 1 tonight.

"That's okay, I'm hoping he gets a lot better, " one fan said. "I can't wait. We got Malkin, Fleury, there's no stopping them. It's going to be a terrific game today. I can't wait, the crowd is pumped."

Fans at the rally weren't shy to make some predictions about the series and seem to think it will be over quickly.

"Penguins in five, take it to the bank," one fan said.

The Penguins will also have the big screen set up across the street from CONSOL Energy Center for every game of the first round.

Fans can start arriving at the big screen four hours before home games and two hours before road games.

Many of them showed up Wednesday before the big game and were eager for playoffs to start.

If you don't have tickets or can't make it out to the big screen, you can watch tonight's game on Root Sports.
