Police Investigate Double Homicide In Duquesne

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police are out looking for the person who opened fire on two men in Duquesne tonight.

It happened in front of 609 Crawford Avenue just before 6 p.m.

The victims have been identified as 18-year-old Tyrone Coleman of Duquesne and  29-year-old Lawrence Short of Clairton. Both died as a result of their gunshot wounds.

The 29-year-old is said to be a part of the local hip hop group Hardcore Entertainment.

Neighbors tell KDKA's Kym Gable the victims were sitting on concrete steps near the street when the shots rang out.

"I just don't understand how you can come out here in broad daylight and just shoot and have no type of sympathy -- no type of remorse or for kids being around or anything," said Jeff Walker who knew both victims. "It's terrible."

One of the men was reportedly shot in the head.

Medics rushed one victim to UPMC Mercy, the other to McKeesport Hospital.

Residents who live on Crawford Avenue say they are thankful no children were playing in the area when the shooting happened.

Police recovered several shell casings.

Allegheny County Police are investigating, with help from Duquesne officers.

One block of Crawford was blocked off for several hours.

Stay with KDKA for more information.
