New Sky Zone Set To Open Its Doors This Week

LEETSDALE (KDKA) - A new local place to play, run, and jump opens this week and it's called Sky Zone.

It's the first of its kind here in the Pittsburgh area.

"It's a great place to come, just be active, work out for a half hour an hour and not even realize you are doing it," Sky Zone Owner Joel Karg said.

You can definitely work up a sweat and burn calories playing some friendly 3D dodgeball or just jumping in the wall-to-wall trampoline courts.

KDKA-TV's Sarah Arbogast had some fun bouncing into a giant foam pit and although her slam dunk skills need some serious work, the Skyslam basketball was a blast.

Sky Zone is designed for people of all ages and abilities.

"I'm a very family-based person. It's a great activity to bring the whole family out to," Karg said.

The doors officially open for business on Wednesday, but Lindsy Chufe and her 4 and 8-year-old sons from New Brighton were invited to check out the park early.

They won a contest on the Sky Zone Facebook page. Lindsy was selected because of her battles with a health condition similar to a brain tumor.

"I always feel like I'm a disappointment to my boys. We'll make plans to go do something and mom is sick, because my head hurts so bad that I have to just go lay down in a room and we don't get to do the simplest things, bowling, and I thought this would be something for Vincente to remember and Brett to remember for the rest of their lives," Chufe said.

The kids weren't disappointed at all.

"Thrilled, just absolutely cloud nine. I showed them pictures and they were just, this is the best place ever, before they even got here," Chufe said.

Besides bringing fun to the community, this place is also adding jobs. The owners are still looking for about 20 people to work as party hosts, court monitors and even cashiers.
