27th Annual Pittsburgh International Children's Festival Opens
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The 27th Annual Pittsburgh International Children's Festival kicked off today.
The festival features all types of arts, activities and performances. A big highlight, returning for a third year, is a luminarium structure called Exxopolis.
"I like to describe it as going inside a kaleidoscope or a rainbow," said Shanti Freed, exhibition manager.
The structure is the size of half a soccer field and the height of a three-story house and is filled with tunnels and colors.
"It is really something that is for all ages. We have visitors from two-weeks-old right through to 101 recently," said Freed.
This year, the festival will also feature a dinosaur petting zoo, magic shows, and music performances.
The event runs through Sunday, May 19.
