Teke & Family Tell Their Story On The Fan Morning Show

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) -- ROOT Sports Pirates analyst Kent Tekulve, his son Chris, and his daughter-in-law Joanna joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to promote the March of Dimes' "March For Babies."

When Chris and Joanna had their first child on the way, they expected a picture perfect pregnancy. Never did they dream of any complications of a premature birth until Taylor was born 16 weeks too soon and no one knew if she would survive.

Taylor weighed just 1 pound, 4 ounces. She had problems breathing, multiple infections and had two eye surgeries to save her vision. But after 124 days in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Taylor was finally able to come home. Today, she is 11-years-old and you would never know the struggles this remarkable little girl has overcome.

So with "March For Babies" coming up on Sunday, June 2, Kent, Joanna, and Chris talked about their firsthand experiences with premature birth, and about their work with March of Dimes.

To get involved with the event, visit marchforbabies.org, or call 412-505-2200. You can sign up as an individual, or start a corporate or family/friends team. You can also donate and help babies be born healthy.
