Local PTO Leader Charged With Stealing $21K

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The leader of a local PTO is charged after allegedly embezzling tens of thousands of dollars.

Bethel Park Police are investigating after Heidi Schnupp, the president of the Neil Armstrong Parent Teacher Organization, allegedly stole at least $21,000.

She is suspected of stealing the money from the South Hills Interfaith Ministries as well as from the PTO.

A spokesperson from the Bethel Park School District told KDKA that the PTO is not financially affiliated with the school district and the incident has no impact on school funds.

Schnupp turned herself into police Friday morning and showed up in court.

She did not have an attorney with her at the time.

Schnupp is charged with three counts of embezzlement and one count of forgery.
