Showers, Storms Possible Through Morning Hours

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Some showers and thunderstorms are possible across the area tonight and into the morning hours of Sunday ahead of some cooler temperatures moving into the region.

KDKA's Jon Burnett says we'll have warm and humid conditions tonight with mostly cloudy skies and a couple of showers and an isolated thunderstorm or two. The low will be 68.

"We did have a nice break in between the very earliest showers, this morning around 6 a.m., and then this afternoon," said Burnett. "We're bubbling up again with the heating of the day and I think there's a possibility of seeing a shower or even a thundershower or two overnight and into the early part of the day [Sunday]."

Burnett says while some thunderstorms are possible in our area, the more severe weather will be off in the eastern part of Pennsylvania.

"[Sunday], it looks like the heaviest weather, the most energy in the atmosphere will be off to our east and there will be the possibility there for strong storms in central and eastern Pennsylvania," Burnett said. "I think for us, locally, couple of thunderstorms possible, mainly just some leftover showers, and then things will wrap up as the cold front sweeps through and pushes the precipitation off to our east by early afternoon."

Temperatures will begin cooling off Sunday with a high of 80, and then we'll see highs in the 70s during the work week.

"I think there could still be a couple of showers around, even as late as one o'clock [Sunday], but then things start to clear out after that and we'll end up with a pretty darn good looking day on Monday and an even better day Tuesday and Wednesday too as cooler, drier air moves in the early and middle part of the upcoming work week," said Burnett.
