Teen's Expensive Graduation Present Stolen From Under Family's Deck

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Nick Young is graduating from Moon Area High School next week.

As a graduation present, the 18-year-old's parents bought him something he's wanted for years – a 2012 KTM dirt bike.

They paid nearly $10,000 for it. But Young barely had time to break it in before it was stolen from under a porch deck where it was chained up outside their home.

Kathy Young, Nick's mom, had just done some outside yard work and was in the house, preparing supper, when the bike was taken.

Young told KDKA's Ralph Iannotti, "My son has wanted a KTM dirt bike ever since he was a kid, and now, you know, you hurt when your child hurts."

Young filed a report with Moon Township Police Department.

Young says they are offering a $1,000 reward for the return of the bike with no questions asked.

"This was supposed to be a happy time for him [my son], with his graduation and his birthday," said Young.

Police are continuing their investigation.
