Police Seek Suspect In Derry Convenience Store Robbery

DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- State police in Westmoreland County need your help to identify the suspect in a convenience store robbery.

The robbery happened earlier this week at the Red Apple gas station and convenience store on Route 217 in Derry Township.

It was all caught on surveillance tape.

The man walks in and approaches the clerk; he forces her at knifepoint to the register area where he demands cash.

While the clerk gets the cash, the suspect bags as many cigarettes as he can.

"To run into a store when there's already a patron inside and display a knife, it just shows how desperate he was to try and rob this person, rob this store and the fright and fear that he put in the clerk," said Trooper Steve Limani, of the Pennsylvania State Police.

He was wearing a hooded sweatshirt turned backwards and had cut out holes for his eyes. He was also wearing white gloves.
