PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) – Looking for a great gift for Dad, but not sure what to get? Dr. Frank Viggiano, the Gadget Guru, has the latest tech gifts and ideas that Dad will love.

KDKA-AM’s Larry and John talk to Dr. Frank about some neat tech gifts including 3D replicas of sports stadiums across the country, and a new cell phone case made from a new compound that absorbs and stiffens when impacted.

The cases, made by XTREME Cases, are made from RPT, which may be the future of human protection products.

“It is a compound that when a hard surface hits this product, it absorbs the impact sideways,” Dr. Frank said. “Instead of going into the phone, or into your elbows or knees, the impact and energy goes sideways rather than into the object or person.”

Dr. Frank said he’s been using these cases for six months, and as of yet has found no problems with them. On YouTube, you can find videos of people throwing protected iPads out of a plane at 25,000 feet, and they survived.

Listen to the podcast for other tech ideas including a photo scanning service, a cool new grooming product from Norelco, and a battery charger in a flask, and hear more Larry and John weekdays 5-9 a.m. on KDKA-AM.
