SWISSVALE (KDKA) — Four people, two men and two women, were arrested Wednesday on drug charges by Swissvale police and the Allegheny County District Attorney’s narcotics enforcement team.

One of the suspects, Shawn Fitzpatrick, works as a security officer at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

He was arrested in uniform, while carrying a fully-loaded Glock 9mm firearm, which he was licensed to carry because of his job.

Swissvale Police Chief Greg Geppert told KDKA’s Ralph Iannotti that the four suspects were involved in stealing items from businesses in Monroeville.

Investigators say then Fitzpatrick, while in uniform, would return them and get gift cards, which the suspects would bring to a pawn shop and exchange for cash.
