Steelers Cruise Offers Unique Experience For Fans

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – If you're a Steelers fan, how would you like to hang out with current and former players? What about having dinner or a conversation with them all while cruising to the Bahamas?

Well, it's no longer just a dream.

Next March, you could set sail on a first-ever Steelers cruise.

Hines Ward, Franco Harris, Mel Blount, Willie Parker, Antwaan Randle El are just some of the Steelers you've watched on television or at Heinz Field or Three Rivers Stadium.

Now, you can get up close and personal with more than 25 current and alumni Steelers on a cruise to the Bahamas.

Former Steeler Tunch Ilkin, will be your cruise director.

"We have every decade represented of Steeler football since the 1960s, so that's cool," said Ilkin. "So, for everyone in the family, every generation, there's going to be someone there for you."

The cruise will set sail March 10 from Tampa on the Royal Caribbean's "Brilliance of the Seas" ship, fresh from $30 million in renovations.

On board, Tunch has lots of fun and games planned for the whole family - all with a Steelers theme and involving the players and coaches.

Some will include daily autograph sessions, Super Bowl rewinds with live Steeler interviews and a "Steelers Got Talent" show featuring a Ward dance number.

NFL Play 60 has activities on the sports desk for the kids. There will also be kids-only press conferences and interactive games.

"The fun part about it is everyone there is hands on," said former Steeler Craig Wolfley. "They're all available. You can go up to Franco and ask about the Immaculate Reception, talk to Hines Ward about dance steps."

The sounds of Pittsburgh will entertain cruise guests as well.

Local musicians B.E. Taylor, Joe Grushecky, Scott Blasey and Kelsey Friday are all performing, along with comedy by Pittsburgh Dad.

The price starts at $999, but the more you are willing to pay, the more access you get to the players by dining with them, VIP parties with players, a "fast pass" in the autograph line and even staying on the same deck as the players.

Some of the proceeds from the cruise are going to some of the players' favorite charities.
