Weekend Activities Will Cause Driving, Parking Headache

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Expect the city to be packed for the next few days. There are pride events all weekend, the Pirates are home and it's the last weekend for the Arts Festival.

Let's begin on the North Shore.

The Buccos take on the Dodgers tonight at 7:05 p.m.

Tomorrow, the game is at 4:05 p.m. and it's Fan Jam -- Blues Traveler will perform at the stadium after the game.

Sunday, first pitch is at 1:35 p.m.

The North Shore parking lots will open four hours prior to game time.

Parking costs range from about $12 to $25.

Downtown, Liberty Avenue will be a hot spot.

Saturday is Pride in the Street -- Adam Lambert will be rocking out, right on the road between 9th and 10th streets. The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday, thousands are expected to take part in the Pride March down Grant Street onto Fifth Avenue and then onto Liberty.

After the march, Pride fest activities will be all over downtown.

So, how much will parking downtown set you back?

Just $5 if you find a spot in one of the Parking Authority garages.

The flat rate goes into effect after 4 p.m. Friday night and lasts all through the weekend.

There are about 8,000 spaces in the Parking Authority garages about 1,000 of those are in the Grant Street transportation center near the Greyhound bus station at Liberty and Penn avenues.

Also, downtown this weekend, the Three Rivers Arts Festival continues.

There is a full schedule of live music, plus, people will be checking out all the arts and crafts before the festival ends Sunday night.

The best thing to do is to leave early to beat traffic and find a parking spot.

Also, if you have a smartphone, you can download a free app called Park PGH. It gives you real time parking availability for a number of the garages in the cultural district.
