"Most Wanted" Woman Found While Pumping Gas

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A woman wanted on numerous charges, including stealing a safe containing $40,000, was arrested on the North Side while pumping gas Tuesday.

Police say 24-year-old Nicole Hooper was wanted on several bench warrants for theft and burglary charges. She was also named as an accomplice in the robbery of an Overbrook home, in which a safe containing $40,000 was stolen and put on the sheriff's "Most Wanted" list last month.

After hearing that Hooper was living in the North Side, police say they saw her while she was pumping gas at the Sunoco on Cedar Avenue.

Driving the car was 29-year-old Kurt Schmidt of Coaopolis, who police say at the time was wiping away heroin from his shirt. Hooper's 2-year-old daughter was also in the back seat.

Hooper and Schmidt were both arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail where they are awaiting arraignment for endangering the welfare of a child.
