Pilot Killed In Indiana Co. Plane Crash

CLARKSBURG, Pa. (KDKA/AP) - The Indiana County Coroner's Office has ruled the small plane crash in Young Township that claimed the life of one man Monday evening an accident.

According to the coroner's office, 64-year-old Michael Grguric of Conemaugh Township died of multiple blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:25 p.m.

Officials say Grguric was attempting "touch and go" maneuvers in the ultra-light aircraft when the crash happened in the McIntyre area.

The coroner's office reports that witnesses said the aircraft apparently made contact with some trees while attempting to regain altitude.

State police Cpl. Jacob Jesse says the aircraft amounted to a small glider with an engine.

The plane crashed into a grove of trees. There's a small airstrip nearby used mostly by ultralight pilots.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are back at the scene today as they continue to investigate the accident.
