Mystery Surrounds Man Found Unconscious On Butler Co. Road

DONEGAL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Police are trying to figure out what happened to a man who was found unconscious on the side of a road in Butler County.

It appears he may have been the victim of a hit-and-run accident, but for right now, police say what happened to him is a mystery.

Robert Stewart, 28, of Springville, Pa., was found in Donegal Township along Route 68 near Medical Center Drive.

Police say Stewart, a Marcellus Shale worker, was flown to a local hospital with multiple injuries.

He remains in critical condition with injuries to his arms and head. He is expected to survive.

Police aren't sure if he was walking along the road or if he was thrown from a car during the overnight hours. There were no witnesses at the scene.

Stewart was still unconscious early Thursday evening.

Police are waiting to talk with him when he wakes up.
