Car Flips Into Creek In Fox Chapel

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – One person was taken to the hospital after flipping their car into a creek.

Police say around 8 a.m. in Fox Chapel, when a driver in a Mercedes narrowly missed hitting two cars while turning left onto Squaw Run Road.

The driver then hit a tree, flipped upside down and ended up in a creek.

"There was a tree over here to the right," said Fox Chapel Police Chief David Laux. "And he hit the tree and that flipped the car over as it was going into the creek."

Rescue crews had to cut the driver out of the car and he was taken to the hospital.

Officials say often the creek floods after a heavy rain, but fortunately this time for the driver, the water level was low.

Police say there isn't any indication that he was under the influence and that they believe he probably fell asleep at the wheel.
