Dollar Bank Hour: Residential Lending

PITTSBURGH (NewsRadio 1020 KDKA) — Mike Henry of Dollar Bank was joined by Sales Executive of North Realty Services Nancy Theys to discuss residential lending.

There are several reasons why summertime is good for house hunting - the weather is nice and the housing market is great. If house hunters want a great price, they should speed up their search.

"Homes on the market right now are like sugar to flies. Now is the time to buy before interest rates go up," said Theys.

Interest rates have slowly increased over time, it is unclear when they may jump again.

"Interest rates have moved up to one percent, we've seen a lot of activity, I believe people are starting to realize the change in rates," said Henry.

On the other side of the spectrum, people are facing problems that occur when trying to sell a home. Attracting buyers is not easy, hiring a realtor is beneficial and can also speed up the selling process.

"The home must be ready for the sale, your curb appeal has to be good, the home needs to be in prime condition, which is why people should hire a realtor," said Theys.

House hunters are interested in clean and spacious homes.

"Buyer's are looking for space. If your furniture is cluttering the room, I'd suggest to take some items out, the home should be as spacious and clean as possible," said Theys.

She also discussed the cleanliness of bathrooms, and where to store items that are taken out of a home to free up space.
