Authorities Find Abandoned Meth Lab At Home In Clairton

CLAIRTON (KDKA) -- Police were called to an abandoned home in Clairton Saturday where they say they found a non-operational meth lab.

Authorities say someone spotted people going into the home on Thompson Street and called authorities.

Inside the home, officers say they found what appeared to be the abandoned drug lab.

"It's basically a non-operational meth lab. There's a lot of components to make meth there, but there's no product there," said Sgt. Joe Giles, of Clairton Police. "We're just waiting for a Hazmat team just to come and clear it out, but there is no hazard, that's just protocol. They're just going to come down and clear it out for us."

It's not clear how long the lab had been there or when it was last active.
