PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – The Pitt Panthers are officially members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. To talk about it, the Fan Morning Show was joined on Monday by Athletic Director, Steve Pederson.

“Very exciting, and very historic,” Pederson said describing today’s events.

Not only does Pederson think that they will be playing better competition. But, he also thinks about how it will help the recruiting base.

“The best want to play against the best,” Pederson said of coaches recruiting higher levels of talent.

The SEC is the top conference in football without question. But, Steve tells us that the ACC will challenge, because football is cyclical. Power shifts, and Pitt will be there with the ACC when they take that power.

Tonight at Stage AE, the University of Pittsburgh will host a party to celebrate the move to the ACC. It begins, on the North Shore, at 8 p.m. with concerts, coaches, players, fireworks and a special appearance by former Pitt wideout, Larry Fitzgerald.
